Dessa started out in spoken word poetry and eventually joined the Minnesota slam poetry team.
Shortly after, she joined forces with Doomtree to test her skills as an emcee.
In 2005, Dessa released her "False Hopes" EP, which ranked as one of the top local albums of the year by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Since 2005, Dessa has stayed busy by appearing on numerous Doomtree projects, but 2010 brings her solo full length LP "A Badly Broken Code" to the masses. This release showcases Dessa'a abilities as a rapper, singer and lyricist.

- Doomtree performs live in The Current studios The local hip-hop collective and record label Doomtree have been combining beats and MCs for the last five years. In addition to the collaborative EPs, several members including P.O.S., Dessa, Sims, and Cecil Otter have released solo albums.
