Telekinesis, the one-man-band alterego of Seattle musician and songwriter Michael Benjamin Lerner, makes classic 21st-century Pacific Northwest indie-rock in the tradition of Death Cab for Cutie and others.
On his 2009 self-titled debut, produced by Death Cab's Chris Walla, Lerner focused on simple, catchy indie-pop. His follow-up, this year's "12 Desperate Straight Lines," found him further honing and focusing his songcraft and expanding his sonic palette with more energy and a wider range of instruments and styles. On tour, Lerner is joined by musicians including Cody Votolato, former Blood Brothers guitarist and younger brother of singer-songwriter Rocky Votolato.
Telekinesis stopped by The Current studios to play a few songs.
Songs played: "Please Ask For Help," "Dirty Thing" and "Fifty Ways."
