Aug 24, 2012 Brother Ali's new album is called "Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color" and it will be released September 18th. It comes after a difficult time in his life that led to a rejuvenating pilgrimage to Mecca. Ali has a strong message and it's bolstered, on the CD, by the inclusion of Dr. Cornel West, a noted civil rights scholar. The CD's cover photo also offers a thought provoking artistic statement. It's Ali, a Muslim-American, kneeling on an American flag in prayer. MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Brother Ali, who says the album reflects his concern about our society's problems and his hope for it's future.
