Beards, blue jeans, sweaters and flannel. Field Report came to The Current dressed in the winter uniform of the Midwest.

A Midwestern winter is well-traveled ground for Chris Porterfield, the man behind Field Report. The singer-songwriter has spent the last five years working in Marquette University's Office of Student Affairs in Milwaukee. Back in 2003, he played guitar with Justin Vernon and members of Megafaun in the band DeYarmond Edison before quitting when the band moved from Eau Claire to Raleigh, NC.

Porterfield (an anagram of Field Report) is leaving the life of Student Affairs behind and is embracing the open road after the release of Field Report's self-titled debut record in September.

On the night of their performance at the Turf Club, the band reported to The Current studio to chat with Mark Wheat and perform a few songs.
