It's been a battle between the robots and triangles on The Chart Show as of late. Alt-J (also known as Δ) beat out last week's #1 track, "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk." This makes it Alt-J's third appearance on top in total with "Dissolve Me."

Three new entries this week. Vets Iron & Wine solidifying the status of their new album, and Bombino, who was in town last week, makes his chart debut. He got rave reviews from Cedar Cultural Center patrons and HERE at our in-studio session--what a sweet person and beautifully silky guitar player. John Grant also makes his first appearance with a classic slow burn song that catches people's attention gradually.

Eels had another good week. More people have quoted their lyrics to me than anything recently. CHVRCHES had a storming week, too! Like Bombino, we also got good live reports and stopped by to play in The Current studios. The Glasgow group also contributed to making it a good week for songs and bands that are in ALL CAPITALS!

Fitz and The Tantrums had a good week on the back of the sold out pair of shows. They managed to do a Theft of the Dial with us during their Twin Cities stay. AND they brought pizza!

Sigur Ros' album came out this week. Jonsi and company announced more show dates making this their biggest world tour ever. (Still no Twin Cities date, though.)

Janelle Monae seems to be getting the big push with a cover on Billboard magazine touting her as the NEXT BIG THING!

Our own next big thing, Dessa, is also featured in Billboard. She's doing a special performance for us next week after her sold out Fitzgerald Theater show this weekend, with a handful of record store performances to follow the release of her sophomore effort Parts of Speech.

Listen for chances to win tickets to the Dessa Deconstructed event! If you aren't one of our lucky winners, you can still hear her break down new songs word-by-word and beat-by-beat on the live broadcast.
