The Chart Show: Daft Punk gets lucky by losing themselves to dance

by Mark Wheat

Daft Punk
Daft Punk get lucky again with "Lose Yourself to Dance"
Columbia Records

Although there's no change in the top three, there's a ton of surprises below them; The National obviously enriched their reputation while visiting The Current last week with a very high new entry.

Jake Bugg continues to impress as well, readabout the story behind his custom Patrick Eggle in our new feature, The Current's Guitar Collection.

Arctic Monkeys surprisingly reversed their progress and met Franz Ferdinand coming up the other way. Which UK rock band will prevail?!

Also some startling drops for Lissie and CHVRCHES, with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Savages dropping off completely?! And Pearl Jam were replaced after only one week by Portugal. The Man!?

No surprise for me though that Beck continues to climb. That's the one song that's been stuck in my head as of late. Justin Vernon has a similar way of crafting a melody that will lodge with you over time - that's why Volcano Choir is back after dropping off for the last two weeks.

The Suburbs make their debut and we're celebrating them as our MN Artists of the Month in September. They'll be part of our big MN Music On-a-Stick gig at State Fair Grandstand this year... which starts NEXT WEEK?!?! Check the whole line-up of guests and step right up to see us at the corner of Judson and Nelson!
