In town to play a gig at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis, Eagulls stopped in to The Current's studio to chat with Mark Wheat and to play some tracks off their self-titled, debut release.

The members of Eagulls — Mark Goldsworthy (guitar), Henry Ruddel (drums), Liam Matthews (guitar), Tom Kelly (bass), and George Mitchell (vocals) — met while students at Leeds University. Because Mark Wheat is a fellow alumnus, he and Eagulls spend some time comparing Leeds then and now.

Now on tour supporting their album, Eagulls talk about their impressions of touring America for the first time, particularly how each city is different, how the vastness of the country means spending "a million hours" in the van, and what it was like to perform on the Late Show with David Letterman.

They also describe the surreal experience of not being able to get into an English-style pub in Denver because it was packed to the gills with fans who were watching the England v Honduras pre-World Cup friendly.

Songs Performed

"Yellow Eyes"
"Hollow Visions"
All songs off Eagulls' debut self-titled album, out now on Partisan Records.
