Fresh off their big gig at the annual Newport Folk Festival, Trampled By Turtles are our new #1! They're a "remmidemmi" band, apparently — that's a German phrase for, "arms in the air, let's party!"

I noticed that next week Trampled By Turtles have three festival gigs in Germany, and in Nov. they head back for four more shows. Since it seems to be the only European country they're frequenting, I asked my German wife why Trampled By Turtles are so popular there. That's when she informed me of that wonderful phrase rooted in northern Germany's "rementen," meaning "noisy romp." I will endeavor to use "remmidemmi" as much as possible from now on! If you want to get "remmidemmi" with them here you'll have to wait until Sept. 20 for their inaugural Festival Palomino in Shakopee.

Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win the Skyline Music Festival grand prize giveaway including VIP passes to see the New Pornographers, Andrew Bird, Thao & the Get Down Stay Down, S. Carey and Dosh, plus an opportunity to attend a private Andrew Bird performance in the owner's box at Target Field on Friday, Aug. 8!

OK Go make a big upward move this week. Like 2009's "Here It Goes Again," their new video is again a hit with nearly 10 million views in just over a month.
Damien of the band was in town for an event at the Walker just before Rock the Garden and he told us that he had been working solid for three weeks in that warehouse to put it all together. He struck me as a man who likes making movies and is blessed to be in a band at a time when videos have again become important for songs to be a hit. They play a sold out show at the Fine Line on Aug. 16.

Jeremy Messersmith is inducted into the Chart Show Hall of Fame this week for the sixth time! He's playing the Howling Moon Festival up in Duluth this weekend. If you missed Steve and Jill up north last week, here's a recap of the Red Herring Lounge show from reporter Andrea Swensson. Big shout out to Mayor Don Ness for declaring July 25 "Stream The Current in Duluth Day!"

The highest new entry this week was written late one night after Justin Vernon of Bon Iver watched a movie with his brother Nate. It was a rough cut of the new Zach Braff picture Wish I Was Here, and "Heavenly Father" is included on the soundtrack along with "Holocene," a new Shins track and the title track, which is a collaboration between Cat Power and Coldplay!?!

There's also a Justin Vernon connection to the lowest new entry this week. PHOX, originally from Baraboo, WI, learned their chops from the Madison music scene and recorded their debut at Justin's studio in Eau Claire. They're playing a sold out show at 7th St. Entry on Monday and we've invited them in to do a live in-studio session that will air that night at 7 p.m.

The other new entry comes from Jungle whose latest record was our Album of the Week recently. This week's featured album is Jenny Lewis' The Voyager that released just yesterday. She plays the First Avenue mainroom this Sunday, Aug. 3. Haley Bonar, who comes in at #16 this week, also has a gig this weekend at the Kräftskiva! block party next to the Bachelor Farmer restaurant on Saturday with Night Moves and BBGUN.
