Ahead of a live taping of his Infinite Guest podcast, 'Secret Skin', tonight at MPR's Forum, hip-hop artist and writer Open Mike Eagle spoke with Steve Seel on The Current's Morning Show.

Eagle typically records 'Secret Skin' in a closet in his home. "It's the same place I record all of my albums," he says. "I'm so used to it, it's hard to make the transition to a studio with a stranger pressing the buttons."

On Secret Skin, Open Mike Eagle and his guests examine what's really going on behind the face that hip-hop artists put on for the public. "It's mostly a platform for hip-hop artists to create some context for themselves," Eagle says. "Where they come from, what motivates them to do with they do, and tell stories they might not be able to tell otherwise."

In addition to talking about 'Secret Skin' and tonight's live taping, Open Mike Eagle also describes his own trajectory as a writer and a rapper.
