Death Cab For Cutie reach the top after nine weeks. Lead singer Ben Gibbard was one of the artists quoted as a critic of Tidal, the new streaming service founded by Jay Z. "I think they totally blew it by bringing out a bunch of millionaires and billionaires and propping them up onstage and then having them all complain about not being paid," says Gibbard.

After three separate weeks at the top, Alabama Shakes slipped down again – but they look great in this live video produced by our friends at KCRW! They'll be in town on May 30 to play a sold out show with Father John Misty, who is inducted for the fifth time, putting him at #12 on the Chart Show's All-Time Hall of Fame. He was one of the many chart artists to play this year's Coachella festival, joining Florence and the Machine to do a rendition of an Everly Brothers song! Father John Misty also announced another string of tour dates in the fall including a Sept. 20 performance in Madison, WI.

Noel's High Flying Birds are perched at #12 this week following more news that Oasis might be back! Apparently the Gallagher brothers have a "gentleman's agreement" to reunite next year...er...but then they've never claimed to be gentlemen have they?!

Jose Gonzalez is the highest of four re-entries hot on the heels of his two sold out shows at the Cedar Cultural Center last week. He stopped by The Current to record an in-studio between sets and there's video of him performing his Chart Show hit, "Leaf Off/The Cave."

Kristian Matsson—aka the Tallest Man On Earth—is also back after a week's hiatus, just in time to celebrate his birthday next Thursday, the same day as mine! He doesn't have a gig booked here yet but plays Lollapalooza and the new Eaux Claires Music and Arts Festival in July.

Hozier is back, too, just as he announces that he'll be back in Minnesota on Sept. 10 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium. The Current is hosting a pre-sale tomorrow.

Belle and Sebastian have slipped down again this week, but they've also been around long enough to be considered a potential Essential Artist for The Current. Get ya votes in and help us create more great special programming starting May 14!

Houndmouth are back in the basement position that they've held for two straight weeks then dropped out for three weeks. They are one of the many bands that have been "discovered" by Geoff Travis, head of Rough Trade Records when he saw them at SXSW in 2012. Dessa and Aby Wolf along with my friends on the London Beat trip are visiting Rough Trade's record store in London this week! So sorry that I couldn't be with them! A medical issue arose for me last week, which I have been taking care of. Thanks to Mac Wilson and the gang for covering for me and I hope to be back on air next week!
