Every Tuesday at 7:30am Wits host John Moe stops into the Morning Show to share the latest news in Technology.

This week, John Moe chatted with The Morning Show's Jill Riley and Sean McPherson (in for Steve Seel) to talk about Microsoft's guess-your-age app and about a new app to help you select a streaming movie.

1. Does Microsoft guess your age and keep your picture?

The How-Old app is quite popular right now, and some people claim the app is spot-on when it comes to guessing one's age. "More of what I'm seeing from people is that it thinks that people are much older than they actually are," John says.

Why is Microsoft doing this? Just for fun and hijinks? What becomes of the photos? There's fine print. "The best I can figure is that Microsoft is saying, 'Don't worry, we're not going to hold on to these or store these or use these for marketing, but we have the right to do that if we want to, so trust us'," John says.

"There is a lot to be gained from research that is derived from users submitting their own personal information," John adds. "That is gold. That is how Facebook has built a mighty empire."

Microsoft has responded and says it does not keep the photos.

2. There's a new app for picking streaming movies.

A new app called Leanflix lets you choose parameters such as release date, genre, Rotten Tomatoes rating, etc. It'll show you the movies out there to be watched and lets you choose the platform.

John noted it worked better on a computer than on a tablet or phone.
