Minions
Kevin, Bob and Stuart are on a mission in "Minions", Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment's comedy adventure in which the Minions try to save all Minionkind...from annihilation.
Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment

Cube Critic Stephanie Curtis joins Jill Riley and Sean McPherson to talk about Minions, the new animated film from Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment that centers on the characters made popular in Despicable Me. The film features the voice talent of Jon Hamm, Allison Janney, Sandra Bullock, Chris Renaud and Geoffrey Rush.

The film describes the Minion origin story, and is narrated by Geoffrey Rush. The Minions were bred to serve the most evil thing around, but they have a tendency to get in the way of their evil master, killing him or her by accident.

Trapped in an ice cave and feeling a bit sad, three Minions — Bob, Stuart and Kevin — go out to seek a new villain to follow, and they end up in 1968 New York.

"It's like the Three Stooges, there's hijinks, there's slapstick," Stephanie says. "There's no message here. It's summer fun — it's goofy, and it's just joke after joke after joke. Your kids are going to laugh and enjoy it a lot."

Stephanie notes the 1960s soundtrack will be particularly appealing to parents and grandparents. "They shelled out some money for that soundtrack," she says. "It's all classic rock."
