Cube Critic: 'Paper Towns'
July 24, 2015
Cube Critic Stephanie Curtis joins Jill Riley and Sean McPherson to talk about a new comedy-drama based on a book by John Green (The Fault in Our Stars). The film is directed by Jake Schreier (Robot and Frank) and it stars Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne.
"I think they see him as a John Hughes person," Stephanie says about John Green. "He's a guy in his 30s who still can get in touch with how teens think or want to be seen on screen or in books."
Paper Towns centers on a boy named Q (Wolff) who's grown up across the street from a mysterious girl called Margo (Delevingne), who is fearless and whom Q has always romanticized. When Margo runs away from home, she leaves clues for Q, who sets out to find her.
"It's an end-of-school thing, and it's really a lovely little film," Stepanie says. And even though the film includes a road trip, "It's about the journey and not just the destination. … It is for teenagers, but it's really well done."
