Today, we're experiencing a blue moon. According to MPR Meteorologist Paul Huttner, a blue moon is defined as the second full moon in the same month. The last blue moon occurred in August 2012. The next won't appear until January 2018.

Whether blue moon, harvest moon, or waxing and waning, the moon has always intrigued us Earth-dwellers. Certainly astronomers find the moon particularly fascinating, but the moon has also been a muse for generations of artists, poets and songwriters.

As a result, there are a whole bunch of songs that mention the moon.

So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear that mention the moon in the title or lyrics? Bonus points for "blue moon" mentions. Send us your requests.

Cowboy Junkies - "Blue Moon Revisited (Song for Elvis)"
