Today is Sept. 11, a day when people all over the U.S. and the world recall the terrorist attacks on New York, Washington D.C., and in Pennsylvania.

Although 14 years have since passed, the images of New York City on Sept. 11, 2001, are unforgettable. Yet long before and long after 2001, the indomitable spirit of New York has persevered.

A big part of the New York spirit is creativity, and in the world of music, there has been no shortage of innovative and influential bands and artists who have come out of New York. Various scenes and genres have been spurred and shaped by New York musicians.

So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, what songs do you want to hear by influential New York bands and artists? Send us your requests.
