Cube Critic Euan Kerr joins Jill Riley and Sean McPherson to talk about a new thriller starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin. Sicario is directed by Denis Villeneuve and features work by cinematographer Roger Deakins. 'It is just brilliant,' Euan says.

The word "sicario" means "hitman" in Spanish, but Euan adds that "more interestingly, it's also a biblical term which was used to describe a zealot."

The film Sicario is about a young, idealistic FBI officer (Blunt), who drawn into an investigation into a drug cartel's activities along the U.S.-Mexican border. Soon, however, not everything is as it seems. "This thing starts with a boom and goes nonstop for two hours," Euan says. "It's one of the most intense films I've seen in a long time. It is just brilliant. It's just wonderful."

But Euan says Sicario is much more than an action thriller. "It really is a portrait of the no-holds-barred conflict going on along the border," he says.

Euan also has high praise for the work of Blunt. "Emily Blunt is just incredible as this idealistic young law enforcement officer who finds herself way, way out of her depth and tries to do what's right," he says.

Sicario is rated R and is showing at the Marcus Oakdale Cinema and the AMC Southdale 16.
