Two "mature" rock 'n' rollers battled it out for the top spot this week: Iggy must have gained some fans at his Northrop show as he professed undying his love for the state of Minnesota. But local hero Bob Mould won out, perhaps because we were giving tickets away to all three of his shows next week! You can still buy tickets for the First Avenue gigs, but you can only win your way into the Turf Club.

Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to win tickets to both of Courtney Barnett's sold out show at First Avenue on April 26 and 27!

Rounding out the top three, Courtney Barnett collected another award last week in Australia.
The APRA Award for songwriting has gone to Sia for the last three years! Song of the Year went to Tame Impala, who are at No.11 on our chart this week.

Local music was represented well again this week with six artists having Minnesota ties, including a big new entry from the Jayhawks at No.8. They just announced their national tour which includes a hometown stop at the Zoo.

Har Mar is on the Zoo bill, too, and he performed for The Current's Local Show to preview his new album. You can stream Best Summer Ever before it releases this Friday.

Jake Bugg is the other new entry at No.20. He won't start his U.S. tour until the new album is out in June, but he did a few small East Coast shows last week as a warm up. A fan gave this interesting review of his NYC show at the Bowery Ballroom.

There are still three artists on our chart that will be joining us for Rock The Garden this year: Polica, Hippo Campus and M. Ward! Tickets are selling fast but are now available to everyone.

Happy Record Store Day this Saturday! I'll be getting an early start by hosting Teenage Kicks 8 to 10 a.m. I'll spin some tracks from the old records that are being reissued, plus celebrate the birthdays of Liz Phair, Dave Pirner and a Buzzcock. And feature an Aussie band whose lead singer looks a bit like me?!

Last call: Get ya votes in for our 893 Essential Albums list – deadline is Sunday! I only just finalized my list. I had to have a local on there, so I choose The Seeker from Cloud Cult (No.6). It's the pinnacle of their 18 year career – how often can you say that!? But I said that about their last album, too! The movie that accompanies the album will be shown as part of MSPIFF this Friday at St. Anthony Main.
