Karen Choi visited the Radio Heartland studio slightly more than a year ago with music from her first album, which was recorded in Nashville. That album was a few years old by the time we met Karen, but in the meantime, a boatload of new songs surfaced, and Karen was looking for a place to record. Rather than returning to Tennessee, the Nebraska native asked around and found a home to record her new material — right here in the Twin Cities.

Through Our Veins is the resulting collection of Karen Choi's new songs, and it was was produced by Matt Patrick at the Library Studio in northeast Minneapolis last fall. Karen and Matt hadn't met before that, so bringing her songs to a new producer took a little courage; as such, the new album is a creative collaboration which the songwriter is very proud of — for good reason.
