Though they're only 35, Tegan and Sara have been playing together as a duo for over 20 years. The identical twins have released eight studio albums, exploring several sides of their talent without losing touch with the poignant sincerity that's kept legions of fans following their every move.
A couple thousand of those fans packed the State Theatre on Monday night for one of the first shows on Tegan and Sara's tour behind their new album, Love You to Death. This tour features a stunning light show, including an illuminated dance floor, but they left all that behind when they visited our studio to share stripped-down versions of two songs from that album as well as one from their previous collection, 2013's Heartthrob.
Between songs, Tegan and Sara talked with Mary Lucia about "demo-itis," whether they still stay in touch with the bands they've toured with (of course they do), and the tumultuous state of U.S. politics.
