Hippo Campus sold out both nights of the weekend at First Avenue as they prepared for their first major U.S. Tour, starting down in Austin, Texas. They've got seven shows planned during SXSW, including tomorrow with our team at The Blackheart Bar. Watch our Facebook feed for live videos with Jade.

Lucius are inducted for the third time, putting them into the Top 50 on our All Time Chart Hall of Fame Chart!

Spoon's album comes out this Friday and they also have a bunch of shows planned at SXSW. They are this week's DJ Pick from long-time fan Mary Lucia.

Cold War Kids jumped a few places as they arrived in town today, but they had to find a new opening band. Middle Kids are doing it for most of the tour, but this week they too are in Austin for 7 shows in 3 days!?! Hannah and 'her boys' from Sydney Australia, stopped by to do an in-studio for us on Monday.

Haley Bonar declared last Wednesday, International Women's Day, that she will now be known as... HALEY. Perhaps it's not coincidence that she leaves for the UK next week to play a string of big shows, DJs there have mispronounced her name before! She's at the BBC's 6 Music Festival along with Depeche Mode, and Belle and Sebastian among others.

Conor Oberst releases his 'new' album this Friday, it's his last one re-recorded with his friends the Felice Brothers, who he apparently met 10 years ago in Memphis at the Gibson Guitar Factory. The local paper was therefore excited to have them back for the first time since then!

Meanwhile the Tampa Bay paper was extremely impressed with Cage The Elephant headlining their Gasparilla festival at the weekend. In the sweltering heat they still managed to look like dapper British dudes from the '60s!

Laura Marling has slipped down a place this week but her album came out on Friday got a decent 7.7 Pitchfork rating and it's our Album of the Week, reviewed by yours truly.

It was amazing to see the 70 year old Patti Smith rockin' and spittin' hard at Northrop Auditorium last week! Another 71 year old punk icon is back this week at #20 with the first new Blondie song in many years. They'll co-headline with Garbage at Mystic Showroom in Prior Lake on July 21st and lead singer Debbie Harry was profiled this month in Elle UK.
