Erykah Badu is curating a new Fela Kuti box set. The release, the latest in a series of box-set releases spotlighting the late Afrobeat artist, will feature seven Kuti albums spanning the 1970s to the 1990s. Badu is also contributing seven "personal essays" to the release, which comes out Dec. 15. She recommends that you listen to the music "preferably with a nice blunt...with a nice slow burn." New section of Johnny Cash Trail opens

A second section of the Johnny Cash Trail has opened in Folsom, Calif. The country icon's daughter Cindy Cash gave a speech at the Saturday dedication event, which marked a new section of trail added to the first section, which opened three years ago. "The second phase completes the biking section of the trail, which traverses prison property and links to other area trails," reports Billboard)

Remembering Iain Shedden

Australian music journalist Ian Shedden has died of an as-yet-undisclosed cause at age 60. Formerly a drummer with the Saints, Shedden was a respected writer who was trusted with stories like Nick Cave’s reaction to his son's tragic death. Tributes are being shared across the Australian music community. (Billboard)

Matt Mondanile allegations detailed

News recently broke that Real Estate co-founder Matt Mondanile left the band last year because he was fired after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. Now, Spin has detailed the stories of seven women. They "largely involve allegations of Mondanile touching, kissing, and groping them without their consent. Two women alleged that Mondanile groped them while they were sleeping, and a third said that he did so while she was trying to sleep."

Grand Ole Opry to expand

The Grand Ole Opry has announced a $12 million expansion that will bring "new retail and food options, a redesigned box office and a VIP lounge area" to the Nashville venue. The renovations will be complete by January 2019, and they're described by operator Ryman Hospitality Properties as a move that will "allow us to improve our guest experience before and after the shows while also providing us the opportunity to meet growing customer demand for additional Opry-themed experiences, enhanced food and beverage options and expanded tour offerings."
