"It's going to be a jam-packed, exciting year ahead."

That's what Jess Wolfe told us last July when she and Holly Laessig were in St. Paul to perform with Roger Waters as part of his Us + Them Tour. Wolfe's forecast has quickly proved accurate.

On Friday, Jan. 19, Lucius announced a new album, Nudes, releasing March 2. In its press release, label Mom + Pop explains the forthcoming album "will feature acoustic versions of old songs, new material, cover songs and features by collaborators like Roger Waters and [Wilco's] Nels Cline."

An acoustic album may seem a bit of departure from Lucius's previous full-length release, Good Grief, which saw the band move in a more heavily produced direction. But for those familiar with Lucius's March 2017 MicroShow in the Minnesota State Capitol Rotunda, the acoustic sound formidably suits the highly versatile Brooklyn band.

Ahead of the release of Nudes, on Monday, Jan. 22, Lucius dropped a lead single, "Neighbors," with an accompanying lyric video. The song puts Wolfe's and Laessig's vocal harmonies out front, singing thoughtfully written lyrics over Peter Lalish's guitar and Dan Molad's percussion. The video's visuals play with the album artwork from Nudes.

Lucius may be one of the hardest-working bands in the business right now. Molad produced JD McPherson's latest album, Undivided Heart & Soul, while Laessig and Wolfe will spend January and February touring Australia and New Zealand with Roger Waters. During a gap in the Waters dates, Lucius will play a few Antipodean dates of their own before embarking on a cross-U.S. tour in March, after which Laessig and Wolfe will rejoin Waters for the European leg of Us + Them.
