If you've lived in Minnesota for … say … more than three months, you know that we sometimes get strange weather. Like a blizzard in mid-April. Yes, my back still remembers the shoveling from that weekend. Local singer-songwriter John Louis remembers it well too, because he was all set to release his new album that weekend at the Warming House in Minneapolis when the weather forced him to reschedule.

John's songwriting reminds me at times of Kris Kristofferson, John Prine and Townes Van Zandt. Van Zandt was a personal hero of John's, so his new live album is very loosely based on a live record Townes recorded back in 1977, Townes Van Zandt Live at the Old Quarter, Houston, Texas. Hence, the name of his new album, John Louis Live at the Warming House, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

John stopped in our studio to give us a sample of his songwriting.
