If you've enjoyed the sonic footprint of The War on Drugs, Twin Shadow or M83, you are in for a treat with this new Twin Shadow and HAIM-penned song, "Saturdays," posted on the Team Coco website. A hypnotic knocking drum loop is supported by soft synth beds and loosey-goosey, delay-tinged clean guitar that screams back to the best parts of Don Henley's '80s work.

It's no surprise that with Twin Shadow and HAIM sitting at the writer's table, the tune is full of great details: the pre-chorus takes one unexpected turn before jumping into a chorus so summer-ready that I feel like I should be wearing sunblock. HAIM and Twin Shadow should get extra points for pulling out all the '80s pop tricks in the middle of the tune (tense bridge, solid keyboard solo and brief clap-along break). The team clearly did their homework to add all the trimmings to a catchy feel good summer groove.

Incidentally, in my most recent iteration of Music to Watch, I spoke with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert's music-segment producer Kateri Palen about Twin Shadow's collaboration with alt-J. This co-write with HAIM is clearly another of Twin Shadow's fruitful collabs.
