Bad Bad Hats are the most recent local band to fly the flag for our community in the national media. They stay at the top for the second week and were written up in the grandest, oldest national media outlet of them all, Rolling Stone magazine.

Brandi Carlile is the biggest upward mover this week, 10 places to #3 and we just announced two huge shows for her at The State Theater. Tickets will go on sale Friday but you can get a presale offer by signing up for the Cross Currents newsletter.

The Decemberists are inducted to our Hall of Fame for the sixth time putting them at #20 on the All Time Hall of Fame Chart, and Dawes get in for the 9th time putting them at number three behind The Black Keys and Arcade Fire.

Interpol return to the chart after a few weeks hiatus, the new 'Marauder' album is coming August 24 and they play the massive Riot Fest in Chicago next month. The line-up this year seems like the best ever with; Beck, Father John Misty, Elvis Costello and Blondie. The return of Killing Joke, Cypress Hill and local legends Dillinger Four and Atmosphere.

Neko Case is the highest new entry with another song from her well received 'Hell-On' album. I haven't seen any reviewer specify what "Last Lion of Albion" is about, but I was curious as an English American, because Albion has been used as an old name for England. Having looked at the lyrics I assume it's about Queen Elizabeth II, who's face is on the money and qualifies as the 'last she-wolf'.

Sir Paul McCartney at # 16, might also qualify as a lion of the realm, still making hit music after all these years! And he appears to have knighted James Corden as the new Lord of American TV. The Carpool Karaoke segment they did is being expanded to an hour long special.

Foster The People are back in the basement space this week, nearly seven years after their first hit "Pumped Up Kicks". This song has been a classic 'sleeper' starting to steadily build after being the third single released from last year's album. It now has 36M hits on YouTube and 86M on Spotify! Recently they've been on tour supporting Paramore and then playing some small club gigs afterwards where they include covers of songs originally by the likes of Joy Division, Iggy Pop and Gang of Four!
