Before opening Saturday's Music On-a-Stick concert at the Minnesota State Fair grandstand, singer-songwriter Lissie stopped at the MPR booth to perform two songs from her recent Castles album and to chat with The Current's Brian Oake and Jill Riley.

Between songs, Lissie described her experience singing the National Anthem before the previous night's Minnesota Vikings pre-season game versus the Seattle Seahawks. "I just get the chills thinking about it," Lissie says. "It was so intense and amazing; I don't know how it kept it together, but I got strangely calm once it started, and I had such a good time."

Lissie also talked about her farm in northeast Iowa and she also spoke about her ongoing residencies at Icehouse in Minneapolis as well as her Minneapolis-based band.

Watch video of the complete performance and interview above, and be sure to check out a recap and photos of The Current's Music On-a-Stick, featuring Lissie, Lord Huron and Trampled by Turtles.
