Not often we have the Top 2 in town during the same week. Not often that a song comes straight in to the top spot, but DCFC fans were trying hard to win those tix! There are Saturday night tickets left for the Palace Theater Show OR you can stay home and stream it!

Greta Van Fleet are inducted into The Chart Hall of Fame for the third time... THIS YEAR! That's the first time that any artist has done that. Their debut 'Anthem of a Peaceful Army' is due October 19.

Chance The Rapper is also inducted for the third time, but this is the first time that he isn't collaborating with someone. Back in 2016 he had Ty Dolla Sign and Kanye West on his other two inductions. Rumor is that he's in Chicago, recording with Kanye, although Mr. West seems otherwise engaged?!

Kurt Vile got a nice write up in the New York Times this weekend and is the highest upward mover, 9 places to #7. He's one of the few musicians labelled "indie" that admits to wanting a big Billboard hit on his hands, maybe the new album out next Friday will supply it.

Your Smith is another high new entry this week at #12. The artist formally known as Caroline Smith wooed us here in her old home town's First Ave a couple of weeks ago. Now the rest of the country is getting a chance to see her, DC tonight and Brooklyn Thursday.

Thanks to Jade Bird, #14, for agreeing to go record shopping with one of our lucky listeners! She'll be at The Fine Line on Saturday night, which, if you haven't heard is now run by First Ave.

The Hold Steady have returned to our chart this week with a new single ahead of their Surly Brewing Festival date Oct 13th and two sold out shows at The Entry on the 14th. Leader Craig Finn has been suffering for several years from a serious stalker, who upped the ante last week.

Big Red Machine are also back with their second charting song, the new project featuring Bon Iver's Justin Vernon and The National's Aaron Dessner should not however be confused with... The Big Red Machine an impressive looking High School Marching band from just outside Houston TX.

Devotchka are holding on to the basement space after three weeks on the chart with their come back. Tickets are still available for their First Ave Sunday night show, including a special meet and greet package.

Submit your Chart Show ballot this week for a chance to The Current's Ray LaMontagne giveaway at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, MN on October 20, 2018!
