Women have out numbered the men on our chart for the past couple of weeks. Gender parity was achieved for the first time at a major music festival last week at Iceland Airwaves, which we discussed the importance of with several of our guests, the majority of whom were female. You can check out the archived sessions this week.

A woman who our audience has had a special affection for over the last few years hits #1. Brandi Carlile also has a special familial link to Minnesota and there's still tickets left for her State Theater shows Nov 29, Nov 30th and Dec 1st, which we are proud to sponsor;

My favorite quote from one of my fellow DJ's this year is what Jade said about the new DCFC, "... makes you nostalgic for something that hasn't happened yet." That album will be on my Top 5. It's time to start thinking about the end of year lists! Always notoriously early to release theirs, Rough Trade Records did it yesterday and the band who cancelled on us for Rock The Garden this year are #1.

Bob Mould is back as the highest new entry at #13, with a song that old fans of his first band Husker Du will mistake for sarcasm, but bright, shiny, optimistic guitar rock is exactly what he's trying to do as Rolling Stone found out last week, Sunshine Rock will be out in February and he starts his tour Valentine's Night in Washington DC, another old home town for Bob, who recently resettled in Berlin for the last few years.

Wouldn't it be great, I thought to myself, while enjoying Iceland Airwaves last week, if when we get home the new Chart Show would have two more new entries, which show the wonderfully wide mix of music that our audience supports. Loretta Lynn and Weezer! Wow. It's amazing what your support can do, to make this radio experiment work. It means we have the resources to cover the festival In Reykjavik, where we hope you found a new discovery like my fave.
