I have great memories of funk shows on different radio stations around the Twin Cities and beyond, and it's time to echo that tradition on Purple Current. We are putting together a grooving, upbeat and danceable funk show. This show will have a lot of great funk artists in the mix — James Brown, Sly Stone, Rick James and more — and plenty of Prince. But, figuring out what is "funk" and what isn't in Prince's catalog is a tough call. To make the process a bit easier, I'd love to know what you think Prince's funkiest record is. My money has been on Musicology. But, I just read a convincing article by Craig Walmsley arguing that the funkiest record in Prince's world is Exodus. Tell us what Prince's funkiest record is, and whatever record gets the most support will get the first spin on our new funk show!
