Local songsters Charlie Maguire and Pop Wagner are the guys to talk to when you want to know something about the legendary Woody Guthrie. The two of them, along with the late Tony Glover, recorded an album of Guthrie's material back in 2009 and started celebrating the anniversary of his birth every year, including the centennial in 2012.

To keep the legend living, so to speak, Charlie and Pop are doing a whole night of music this Saturday, Feb. 22, at Crooners nightclub in Fridley, Minn., (northern suburb of Minneapolis) to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the writing of "This Land Is Your Land," perhaps Guthrie's most well-known song.

In the run-up to the event, I invited Charlie and Pop to stop into our studio to chat about Woody Guthrie and to play a tune or two (because they never leave home without a guitar and fiddle in hand).
