T. Rex is in the basement! Well, kinda, a cover of Marc Bolan's "Cosmic Dancer" comes in at twenty this week. Me and Looch are still both buzzing from seeing Nick Cave perform it last year at The Pantages. We're both big T. Rex fans and are looking forward to the final project from Hal Wilner, the legendary producer who died last month. Angelheaded Hipster is out September 4th, 26 Bolan songs covered by contemporary artists including Joan Jett, Kesha, Lucinda Williams and a colab between U2 and Elton John!

Crashing in at nineteen is Low Cut Connie. Adam from the band did a virtual session for The Current last month, his covers included a song from "Annie" the musical and one from Annie of Eurythmics! When asked about what he misses most..."Those pungent smells when we play live..."

Surfing into the Chart as another new entry is the return of Melbourne surfer Tash Sultana. Last year she wrapped up a world tour for her 2018 album 'Flow State' which was nominated for 6 ARIA Awards down under (check out the announcement for this on her record label page, Tash is sitting in front of a Trampled By Turtles poster!) which she thought would be her last as a SOLO artist. When she gets to play live again she'll have a full band apparently.

Jason Isbell lost out to Childish Gambino for highest new entry on our chart this week and to rappers Future and Polo G for the top of the Billboard Hot 200, but the album did hit the Top 10, making it Jason's third solo release to do so.

Atmosphere are inducted into our Chart Hall of Fame for the sixth time putting them at #29 on the All Time HOF Chart, just ahead of The Decemberists and just behind Florence and the Machine. HAIM get in for the fifth time, slotting in at #38, ahead of Hozier and right behind The Lumineers. They were also one of the bands expected to play the Bank Holiday Weekend Show for the BBC The Big Day Out, the equivalent of Memorial Day in the UK, so they did a special virtual gig for them instead.
