When I first heard of this documentary, everybody said, "Who is Clarence Avant?" Even if you just watch the trailer for The Black Godfather, you'll get a really good gist of who this man was, all that he accomplished.

He sort of stumbled into management in the music industry, but Avant has owned record labels, influenced television and movies, was instrumental in the Civil Rights movement, and includes ex-Presidents among his friends. Not to mention Quincy Jones, and you know Quincy Jones doesn't hang around with slackers.

The Black Godfather is directed by Reginald Hudlin and it's available for streaming on Netflix.
