Mary Lucia talks about a new documentary from CNN Films, Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President. The film shows how Carter's lifelong passion for music allowed him to tap into a force that transcended racial and generational divides, and often party lines.

"I cannot think of a better recommendation for this time," Mary says, "this day, this moment in history, for you to watch and feel hopeful and charmed and believe in the goodness of government."

Carter, Mary explains, "really did have the sort of what I hope to God we don't think is considered naive, but the belief that music is a uniter of differences in people and race and feelings and thoughts and ideas."

Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President is directed by Mary Wharton and is available for streaming on CNNgo.
