The Last Revel are out with their third full-length album, but that's not the only milestone for the Minnesota-based string trio; they've also transitioned to being full-time musicians. 'It's definitely an exciting place to be,' says the band's Ryan Acker. In the run-up to the release of their new album 'Hazard & Fate,' the Last Revel visited Radio Heartland for a session hosted by Mike Pengra.
Teague Alexy's new album, 'Circuit Sessions,' releases April 7, 2017. The Duluth-based singer-songwriter (and also author and podcaster) joined Radio Heartland's Mike Pengra in the studio to talk about the making of 'Circuit Sessions' and to spin a few tracks from the new record.
The legendary Spider John Koerner will be appearing at a show on Sunday, April 9, at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis. Koerner is quick to emphasize that this is not a retirement party, though. Spider John Koerner stopped in the Radio Heartland studios to chat about a 50-plus year career in music that's not ending any time soon.
As a fairly new band, Mipso continue developing their sound. On their new album, 'Coming Down the Mountain,' Mipso have added pedal steel, electric guitar, keyboards and drums, but underneath lies their strong harmonies and excellent string playing. The band stopped by Radio Heartland to play some songs from the new record.
