Listen The Local Show for April 28, 2013
Apr 28, 2013 Join David Campbell as he explores Minnesota's local music scene, both past and present. Featuring rare songs, live tracks, and in-studio performances.
We have a very special Local Show lined up for you. Twin Cities record label Totally Gross National Product is re-launching, and David Campbell sat down with the team behind it including Ryan Olson, the guy who assembled GAYNGS and Polica, Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Jake Luck (Leisure Birds), Drew Christopherson (Polica) and Lazerbeak (Doomtree). In typical Olson fashion, he couldn't leave the interview untouched, so throughout the two-hour episode Sunday night, we'll be airing clips of Campbell's chat with the crew, remixed by Olson.
But it doesn't stop there. The guys have given us the world premiere of 11 new tracks from forthcoming records on the label. They include new music from The Cloak Ox, Lizzo, Moonstone Continuum, Pony Bwoy, Motioner, Umami, Jason Feathers, Marijuana Deathsquads, Tender Meat, Slapping Purses and Albert.
We're also welcoming the band On An On into The Current studios for a performance. The trio are on a roll after the release of their debut Give In, and two members have recently moved back to Minneapolis from Chicago.
Lastly, Campbell will also check in with Joey Ryan and The Inks about their new EP, and Andrea Swensson will let us know her favorite discoveries from this year's Midwest Music Fest in Winona.
