Siri Undlin is the songwriter and singer in Humbird. She says her musical influences range from jazz guitarist Bill Frisell to classical composer Arvo Part to legendary Texas songwriter Blaze Foley. Humbird stopped at Radio Heartland to play songs from the new album, 'Pharmakon.'

Filmed on location at an animal-sanctuary farm outside Winnipeg, the video balances the song's mournful lyrics with uplifting visuals. The song is the lead single from the Small Glories' 2019 album, 'Assiniboine & The Red.'

Southern Minnesota band Six Mile Grove recently celebrated 20 years together. In January 2019, they released their latest album, 'Million Birds.' Ahead of upcoming shows at the Minnesota State Fair on Aug. 26 and 27, Six Mile Grove visited Radio Heartland to play songs from the new album and to talk about 20 years as a band.

Jake Armerding performs in the Radio Heartland studio

Jake Armerding is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and his album 'The Octave' focuses on songs Jake has written using the octave violin -- which is nearly the same size as a violin, but has thicker strings and is tuned an octave below standard violin tuning. The result is a cello-like sound that complements Armerding's rich vocals.
