Hawktail perform music from their forthcoming album live at Radio Heartland

Hawktail - an instrumental acoustic band comprising Brittany Haas, Paul Kowert, Jordan Tice and Dominick Leslie - will release their second album, 'Formations,' in January 2020. They visited Radio Heartland to play a couple selections from the new record and also to play a piece from their debut release, 'Unless.'

Wild Ponies run free in the Radio Heartland studio

Doug and Telisha Williams are the Nashville duo Wild Ponies. They've been playing together since high school and still are heavy road warriors. They were in our area for a handful of gigs recently, and they brought their gear into our studio for a session.

Barbaro budge beyond the bounds of bluegrass

A lot of string bands can do very well by playing traditional old-time or canonical bluegrass music, and then there are those who like to stretch out a bit. Barbaro, a four-piece string band from Minnesota, fall into the latter category. Barbaro peformed at Radio Heartland ahead of a big gig at the upcoming Boats and Bluegrass Festival, set in the southeastern Minnesota city of Winona.

Humbird performs in the Radio Heartland studio

Siri Undlin is the songwriter and singer in Humbird. She says her musical influences range from jazz guitarist Bill Frisell to classical composer Arvo Part to legendary Texas songwriter Blaze Foley. Humbird stopped at Radio Heartland to play songs from the new album, 'Pharmakon.'
