Join us for a very special evening featuring Emmy Award-winning, interdisciplinary artist PaviElle French, alongside outstanding local musicians, members of her illustrious 6-piece band, and a student ensemble from Saint Paul’s Walker West Music Academy. This concert at the historic Fitzgerald Theater will feature all original music by PaviElle, including the world premiere of a new work, commissioned by Schubert Club, celebrating themes of Black liberation, and youth empowerment. Weaving together a tapestry of Jazz, Soul, Hip-Hop, and Classical music styles, the work reflects PaviElle’s response to current happenings in our country.

PaviElle is an Emmy Award-winning, interdisciplinary artist, hailing from Rondo – a historically Black neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a Jerome Hill Artist Fellow (21-22), as well as a McKnight Artist Fellow (2020), and has received a Sage Award for Dance and Choreography.

PaviElle is a Global Artists Initiative–Artist In Residence at MacPhail Center For The Arts, and an American Composers Forum Grant recipient for her classical composition A Requiem for Zula (2018), written in celebration of her Mother’s life. PaviElle’s symphony was recently featured at the New World Symphony in April 2021 under the direction of Conductor Edwin Outwater and Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas.

She has been seen performing locally and nationally, and has graced such stages as First Avenue, The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., to name a few. She is known for her powerhouse vocals and performing with an equally powerful 6-piece band.
