Mayor R.T. Rybak proclaimed March 6 as "Women of the World Poetry Slam Day" in Minneapolis. The Twin Cities will host the international poetry festival for the first time. In the largest gathering of women slam poets, 80 world-class competitors will vie for three nights, starting tonight, with the top 12 advancing to the final round on Saturday.

The Current's Morning Show's Steve Seel spoke to Minnesota native and slam poetry rockstar (she ranks third in the world in slam poetry), Kait Rokowski about the Women of the World Poetry Slam and her history with the slam poetry movement.
