9:30 Coffee Break: Happy Pi(e) Day

March 14, 2013

Happy Pi (or Pie) Day! Today has taken on a special meaning for math heads and people who just like to eat pie. If you're looking for a little bit of background, Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter "e") is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant -- the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter -- which is approximately 3.14159. As for Pie Day, don't think about it too hard and just grab a slice of pie to celebrate.

For our 9:30 Coffee Break today we'll celebrate both. We're looking for songs about circles or pie, and if you can find a song that actually has some one reciting pi (3.14....)we will be extra excited to play it.

If you like treats and coffee, don't forget to sign up for your chance to have Jill and Steve bring some goodies to your workplace. This month they are joined by John Mark Nelson and bringing treats from Bryant Lake Bowl.

Songs Played:

Billy Preston - "Will it Go Round in Circles"

Golden Smog - "Pecan Pie"

Soul Coughing - "Circles"

The Beatles - "Wild Honey Pie"

The Beatles - "Honey Pie"

Kate Bush - "Pi"
