Bryce Dessner and Richard Reed Parry stopped by The Current to chat with host Mark Wheat about two unique shows at the Walker Art Center as a part of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music Series.

The Current listeners might know Bryce Dessner from the National, but his musical background is rooted in composition and classical guitar. "The theme that kind of connects these worlds for me I think is collaboration," says Dessner. "At the Walker we're presenting two evenings of music. It's called 'The Music of Bryce Dessner' but really it's a celebration of my music and my friends."

Arcade Fire multi-instrumentalist Richard Reed Parry frequently collaborates with Bryce Dessner. "Bryce and myself both come from a sort of a wide, open-minded musical paradigm," says Parry. "I think that—from my experience with Arcade Fire and with National fans, because I've hung out with both quite a bit—I think that we do attract kindred musical spirits."

The next Liquid Music Series installment on Saturday, May 9 features Victoire, Glasser and Noveller. Some tickets are available.
