Singer-songwriter Ann Reed releases her 24th album, 'Winter Springs, Summer Falls, on Sunday, Nov. 12, at St. Joan of Arc Church in Minneapolis. Reed and her longtime musical collaborator Joan Griffith stopped in the Radio Heartland studio to play some music from the new record.
Although Lukas Nelson grew up on the tour bus of his legendary father, Willie, the 28-year-old singer never felt it was expected of him to carry on the family legacy. That said, Lukas fell into the family business and now tours with his own band, Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real. Lukas Nelson recently brought his acoustic guitar into our studio to play a couple tunes and talk about the self-titled album from him and his band.
Sarah Morris's next album, 'Hearts In Need Of Repair,' releases Nov. 17, 2017, with an album-release party set for Friday, Nov. 10, at the Hook and Ladder in Minneapolis. In the run-up to the album release, Morris and her band visited the Radio Heartland studio to perform songs from the album. Morris also spoke about her career as a songwriter, and how she's started a web series thanks to the excellent acoustics in a particular room in her house.
The Blind Boys of Alabama have been singing together for more than seven decades, and they've recently released their 71st album, 'Almost Home.' The group recently visited the Radio Heartland studio to talk about the album and to perform some of the new material, as well as to perform their take on a longtime traditional hymn.
