Mike Doughty began his music career as frontman for the band Soul Coughing in 1992. By 1993 the band had signed a record deal with Slash/Warner and released the first of three albums in 1994.
In addition to making music, Mike Doughty also released a book of poetry in 1995. The band went their seperate ways in 2000 to embark on other projects.
In July 2002, Doughty released the limited-edition live album Smofe + Smang: Live in Minneapolis. In 2003, Mike released the Rockitty Roll EP and signed to ATO Records in 2004.
In 2005, Doughty released his first solo project to feature a band, Haughty Melodic, followed by 2008's Golden Delicious.
In his third appearance in our studio, Mike chatted about his "dude theory" method of recording on his latest album, and the Twin Cities musicians who helped out in the recording process. He also talked about the languages he's learning and aspires to learn; his "Question Jar" tour; his love for the NY subway system, and his future plans.
