History Highlight:

Today in 1955, Bo Diddley's "Bo Diddley" with "I'm a Man" on the flip side appeared on the R&B chart. It climbed to #2, making it Bo's most successful record. The A side introduced to the world what would become known as the "Bo Diddley beat," a rhythmic pattern later utilized by Buddy Holly, the Stones, the Grateful Dead and many others.

Also, Today In:

1964 - It was announced in a Billboard article that "London Records is preparing a giant promotion on behalf of the Rolling Stones, a hot new British group with a smash single "Not Fade Away" and album The Rolling Stones."

1976 - 33 year-old Keith Relf, former lead singer for The Yardbirds, was electrocuted while tuning a guitar which was not properly grounded. The accident happened in his West London home where he was found by his eight year old son, still holding the plugged-in electric guitar

1977 - During a UK tour, Talking Heads played a gig at The Rock Garden in London where Brian Eno who was in the audience saw the band, who then went on to produce them.

1998 - Perhaps the greatest interpreter of the Great American Songbook, actor, Rat Packer and "The Chairman of the Board," Francis Albert Sinatra, died of a heart attack at age 82. Dylan and Springsteen were among the notables who attended the funeral on May 20.

2006 - Red Hot Chili Peppers started run at No.1 on the US album chart with "Stadium Arcadium" the bands ninth studio album.
