Local guitarist Tim Sparks wrote to me recently and said of his new recording: "I have to confess pride in this project."
He should feel proud.
Sparks's new album is titled, Chasin' The Boogie. It's a collection of originals and covers, all arranged carefully with melodies, counterpoint and boogie-woogie piano licks … on the acoustic guitar. The album was inspired by a trip back to his birthplace, North Carolina, where he was influenced by gospel and folk music.
Tim's CD release show is Wednesday night, June 18, at Icehouse in Minneapolis.
