We are proud to announce that The Current is now available to listeners in the Ely, Minn., area!

You can listen to The Current beginning at noon today at 101.3 FM in Ely. The Current can also be heard on the HD2 channel of MPR News station WIRC, 89.3.

To make this possible, we would like to thank Clayton Halunen and David Duddingston, Tom Arneson, Piragis Northwoods Company, and Vanilla Bean Restaurant in Two Harbors for providing the generous funds to bring The Current to the Ely community.

"Over our first 10 years on the air, we've worked to expand the reach of The Current into more areas of the state — adding FM signals in Rochester, Mankato, Grand Rapids, Austin, Hinckley, New Ulm, Pine City, St. Peter, and now Ely," says The Current's Program Director Jim McGuinn. "We're excited to join the broadcasting community there and our sister stations MPR News (89.3) and Classical MPR (90.1), along with the great local station WELY, 94.5 End of the Road Radio.

"Whether you live in Ely or visit on your way into the BWCA, we're psyched to provide The Current to another part of the state."
