In an article for Salon, writer Marc Spitz posits that "fire" and "desire" comprise the laziest rhyming couplet in all of English-language songwriting, yet countless artists have used it to great effect.

Thinking about it, it seems Spitz is on to something: There are a lot of songs that rhyme the words "fire" and "desire" — occasionally many times within the same song.

So for today's 9:30 Coffee Break, let's embrace it: What songs do you want to hear that rhyme "fire" and "desire"? Send us your requests.

Songs Played

Bruce Springsteen "I'm on Fire"
PJ Harvey "Rid of Me"
Pixies "Dig for Fire"
U2 "Desire"
Ryan Adams "Desire"
The Shocking Blue "Venus"
The Black Keys "Strange Desire"
Jimi Hendrix "Fire"
