Ezra Furman covering the Replacements' misfit track "Androgynous" just makes sense.

In the stop-motion video for "Restless Year"—the lead single off his third solo album Perpetual Motion People—Furman expresses gender fluidity by wearing dresses, pearls and bright red lipstick. "Making the rounds in my five dollar dress," Ezra sing-screams.

The cross-dessing 28-year-old stumbled upon the classic Let It Be cut after hearing Titus Andronicus frontman Patrick Stickles declare "Androgynous" as his favorite song ever. Furman turns the original piano-driven balled into a guitar-riffing, swirling serenade. Listen to the track with the audio player above.

"Androgynous" has become a favorite for artists to cover. In May, Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace and Joan Jett teamed up with Miley Cyrus to cover "Androgynous" promoting her Happy Hippie Foundation.
