MPR News Arts Reporter Marianne Combs is back from vacation and she joins Jill Riley and Sean McPherson to talk about a variety of events happening in the Twin Cities. "It's the Twin Cities, it's the weekend — of course there are cool events," Marianne says.

Here's the rundown:

Feast of Wolves at the Southern Theater — Presented by Workhaus Collective, Feast of Wolves is inspired by the War of Troy but is the fictional story of the modern-day Wolfson family. The play "explores the insatiable appetites for power and vengeance that drive the Wolfson family toward a bloody conclusion." "If you want to watch something sort of reminiscent of Game of Thrones and House of Cards but live and onstage, you can do that at the Southern Theater," Marianne says, adding the play is for ages 15 years old and older. Feast of Wolves runs Nov. 7 to 15.

"American Art: It's Complicated" at the Minnesota Museum of American Art — This show opens Thursday, Nov. 5, with a reception in downtown St. Paul. This show looks at the question, "What is American art?" with an understanding that it really depends on who you talk to and that person's perspective. That's why the Minnesota Museum of American Art has assembled a group of people who took a critical approach to the question, thinking deeply about what is American identity and what is American art that represents that identity? "American Art: It's Complicated" runs until Jan. 3, 2016.

Ode to Walt Whitman at Intermedia Arts — Puppetry! Tonight, tomorrow and Saturday, this is a silent puppet performance using several puppets, and live music by Martin Dosh. There's no spoken-word dialogue in this show, but it compares and contrasts the views of Walt Whitman and Federico Garcia Lorca. "It's gotten some rave reviews when it was performed on the East Coast, but it's based out of the Twin Cities," Marianne says. Ode to Walt Whitman runs Nov. 5 to 7 at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis.
