It's getting a little late to call Sarah Jarosz a "child prodigy" anymore. She's 25 now, but it's daunting to think that she's just released what's already her fourth album, having signed with Sugar Hill Records when she was only 17 years old. Undercurrent is the name of Jarosz's latest album, and it came out earlier this summer and has already been at the top of Americana and Folk music radio charts across the nation.

Jarosz could have left high school and hit the road full time when she was a teenager, but her parents — both teachers — encouraged her to complete high school and to continue with her music degree. So Jarosz found time during weekends and summers to tour internationally, and she graduated with honors from the New England Conservatory of Music in 2013.

So now, Jarosz is on her own, living in New York City and touring full time with her band while also performing with Aoife O'Donovan and Sara Watkins as the trio, I'm With Her. The three women recently performed at the Hollywood Bowl with Garrison Keillor on the final broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion.

Sarah Jarosz was in Minnesota recently for a couple of nights at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis. Despite her busy schedule, Jarosz made time to stop by the Radio Heartland studio to chat and to play a few tunes from her new album.
