The Current's Chart Show started mid-September of 2009. We decided to give every song a 10-week run on the chart then induct it into our Chart Show Hall of Fame. Over the past seven plus years, the Hall of Fame has become a good gauge of what artists that you, our listeners, know and love. During 2016 we have had 57 inductees, which is about average. Now 48 artists have been inducted three times or more and the top 20 is a marvelous representation of The Current's playlist.

Six of the top 20 entries come from local artists (if we count Bon Iver as local) and are internationally touring acts. This cements the reputation of Minnesota's music scene more than it points to a bias in The Current's programming. If you add Dessa and P.O.S' induction score to Doomtree's, the hip-hop collective would be equal with the Black Keys!

There are also six non-American acts in the top 20: Three Brits (Mumford and Sons, alt-J and Florence and the Machine); two Australian (Courtney and Tame Impala); and one Canadian (Arcade Fire). It will be interesting to see how this chart evolves over this year, as Bon Iver becomes the first inductee of 2017. Nine of the top 20 went up last year. Will Arcade Fire do just that this year with their rumored new album? Perhaps the xx will make it onto this chart as they have four inductions; Hippo Campus are poised just outside the top 20. But what if the new solo album from, Dan Auerbach, gets inducted, will that add to the Keys' total?!

Remember: You can help us with the evolution by voting for your favorite tracks every week! Stay safe and be peaceful to one another this holiday season, and thanks for listening!
